i have a bunch of old cook books i keep around for the sake of veganizing recipes. below is one adapted from a book called "mr. food cooks real american"
my family's favorite casserole
1 cup uncooked elbow macaroni
1 package smart ground
1/2 cup sliced celery (about 2 stalks)
1/2 cup diced onion (about 1/2 a small onion)
1 can (28 oz) whole peeled tomatoes, broken up (undrained)
2 tsp karo syrup*
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper
preheat oven to 350°f. cook the pasta until just tender then drain. combine all ingredients in a 2 quart casserole dish and bake, covered, for 30 min. uncover and bake 30 min more, or until top is light golden and crunchy.
*i use karo syrup because i always have it around to make fake blood. agave or other sweetener of your choice would work too.
side note~
don't be a carnivore - listen to carnivore!

"i use karo syrup because i always have it around to make fake blood." I already knew that you're a hoot at parties, but this should be an indication to everyone else.
